My Information
My Story
Hello! My name is Fergie. I am a Potcake* dog from Nassau, Bahamas. I am 7-8 months old and am a Labrador/Hound mix. I am very shy and get scared easy. However, once I warm up and trust the human working with me, I am a sweetheart and will even give little kisses. I am also getting to be a lot better on my leash…although I do still pull a bit.
My favorite thing to do here at E.A.R.S is to play in the paddock with my Bahama “brother” Geo (he came to E.A.R.S. a few weeks after me). We also recently became bunk mates and play mates. I love to run around with Geo and play tug-a-war (sometimes I even let him win). Since becoming bunk mates and playmates with Geo, I have really come out of my shell and am getting more comfortable with the volunteers. Geo and I have been a great support for each other (we are secretly hoping to get adopted together, but we know that’s a big wish). I’m still nervous about going up to volunteers, but I’m slowly getting more comfortable with time, patients and of course….treats!
Please take note though that I am a “work in progress” pup. For more information about me, please fill out an application and the owner of E.A.R.S. will contact you directly. I do hope that you will learn more about me as I do have potential to be a great pup.
My adoption fee is $300.00.
Potcake* dogs are mixed-breed street island dogs from the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands. These dogs are known as potcake dogs because the locals feed the caked remains, like rice, from cooking pots to these dogs. Potcake dogs are known to be loving, loyal and smart. They often express appreciation for the good fortune of being rescued, loved and cared for.
