My Story

Hi!  My name is Macy.  I am a 3 ½ -year-old Great Pyrenees and Old English Sheepdog mix.  I have had 3 separate owners my first 2 years of life.  I was finally adopted by a great owner when I was about 2-years-old. Unfortunately, my owner suffered from a medical injury and became incapable of handling me because of my size.  In an extreme act of love, my owner turned me over to E.A.R.S. and I am now adoptable.   I need a family that can provide me with love, structure, and a forever home.

I am a pretty big girl weighing about 100lbs but I have quite the spirit.  The volunteers at E.A.R.S have been working with me on my behavioral and leash skills.  I love playing tug of war and running around with the volunteers.  It has not been determined if I will do well with other dogs and cats.

My new family will need to keep up with behavioral training.  Due to my size (and how I can be territorial over food – something I am working on) I should not go to a home with young children.  I will need a house with a yard (an apartment will be too small).  Also, my future owner *MUST* have experience with large dogs, with these breed types, or both!  I need a home that understands that I will need a little extra TLC to make up for my turbulent early years, but with time and patience my new family will surely find that I will make a great companion!

Here’s what my future owner needs to qualify for adoption:

1) Home with a yard
2) Experience in owning larger dog breeds.
3) No young children in the home (i.e. I shouldn’t weigh more than the kid!)
4) Commitment to keeping up my training.
5) Understanding that I will need routine grooming to keep matted fur at bay.
6) Love, sternness, and patience!

I am a wonderful dog but want my potential adoptee to understand that I am a large, free spirited lady who needs some boundaries in life!  My adoption fee is $300.00.
